Drunken Pilot Is Discovered Before Taking Flight!
This morning an American Eagle captain failed an alcohol Breathalyzer test before he was scheduled to fly a commercial airplane from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport to the LaGuardia airport in New York.
The pilot was discovered when “a witness smelled what they believed was alcohol on his breath,” said airport spokesman Patrick Hogan. The pilot was then tested and removed by police before taking off in Flight 4590.
According to Gawker:
Either way, the pilot exceeded the state’s legal limit for pilots (.04 percent blood alcohol content), and was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence.
Formal charges are awaiting the results of blood test conducted at a nearby hospital.
A spokesman for American Airlines, the parent company of American Eagle, also announced that the pilot has been suspended and an internal investigation will take place.
That was a close call! For many people, flying is scary enough without the thought that your pilot may be under the influence.
