NYPD Arrest 7 Year Old Boy
The New York Police Department is facing a 250 million dollar law suit after arresting and detaining a seven year old boy over an alleged theft of five dollars. The department which has never had a strong relationship with New York Residents or the media, are now trying to weather through a public relations fire storm that may leave them with a few more dents to their reputation as well as budget.
The New York Police Department last month arrested and detained in handcuffs a seven-year-old boy over accusations that he stole $5 from a fellow elementary school student four days earlier. The December 4 incident came to light after Wilson Reyes’ parents filed a $250 million lawsuit against the NYPD, alleging the boy was verbally, physically and emotionally abused, intimidated, humiliated, embarrassed and defamed.
Reyes parents took a picture of their son with the handcuffs on, and after going viral it was featured on the front page of the New York Post. Reyes was charged with Armed robbery, the charges have since been dropped.
