Obama: Troops Are Coming Home
This evening in his State of the Union speech, President Obama will announce plans to bring home 34,000 US troops currently deployed in Afghanistan by this time next year. This move will cut the US force presence in Afghanistan by more than half. At present, there are approximately 66,000 troops in Afghanistan, according to Time Magazine.
“The White House has been considering a range of troop levels to remain in Afghanistan once the combat mission officially ends at the end of 2014, from as many as 15,000 troops to none at all.”
Until these numbers are completely reduced, US forces will continue to train Afghan forces. If you missed the State Of The Union, you can watch it below.
