Rhode Island Legalizes Same Sex Marriage
The Defense Of Marriage Act has yet to see a decision made on it by the Supreme court. But one state isn’t waiting for the highest court in the country to define marriage. They’re doing it on their own.

The bill which law makers have been trying to pass for over ten years, finally has the necessary support and was easily voted through the state senate 26-12. The bill must now go through a procedural vote in the States Congress and then be signed off by the Gov. Lincoln Chafee.
Hundreds of gay marriage supporters erupted into cheers and applause — and many cried — outside the Senate chamber following the vote.
Once the bill is finalized, Rhode Island will be the 10th state to allow same sex marriage.
