Obama’s Approval Rating Takes Major Hit
After several scandals to start off his second term, President Obama has seen a significant dip in his approval rating.
The President has seen plenty of negative news coverage since the beginning of his second term. He’s weathered the bad press from Benghazi, gotten past the justice departments snafu with the associated press, and even dodged a bullet when it was discovered that the IRS may have been unfairly targeting the Tea Party. But after details of the NSA and phone surveillance was released, the presidents approval rating went down 8 points.
The public disapproves of surveillance, and 43 percent of people think the administration has gone too far in sacrificing civil liberties in the name of fighting terrorism, the CNN poll found.
After Whistle Blower Eric Snowden leaked information about the government collecting phone records from Verizon, the president came forward about the Surveillance, and defended the governments actions. His poll numbers have suffered the consequences.
