Americans Living Paycheck to Paycheck
According to a survey done by bankrate.com more than 3/4’s of Americans are living pay check to pay check.
ARCHIVE: The Poverty Epidemic
The study found that more and more Americans are struggling to make ends meet. The recession has made it difficult to find high paying jobs, while the cost of living, student loan payments and other expenses take away from money that can be saved.
According to Bankrate:
The savings rates have barely changed over the past three years, even though a larger percentage of consumers report an increase in job security, a higher net worth and an overall better financial situation.
In a separate survey done by another company, it was found that many Americans can barely afford to have more than $100 stored away in their savings and more than 40% of the people surveyed have less than $800 put away for savings. Numbers like these reaffirm the uphill climb this country is in with regards to the economy.
