Defense Rests without Zimmerman Testimony
Despite no testimony from Georgie Zimmerman, the defense has rested in the Trayvon Martin murder trial.
In a last minute decision on Wednesday, Zimmerman, the neighboorhood watchman accused of murdering Trayvon Martin, decided not to take the stand. According to Fox News:
The defense team used its final day of testimony to paint the neighborhood watch volunteer as a wimp who was getting pummeled when he shot Trayvon Martin in self-defense, at one point commandeering a mannequin introduced by prosecutors in order to re-enact its version of the fight
The defense continued to argue that the prosecutions earlier account of the attack did not coincide with Zimmermans injuries following Tuesdays testimony from a renowned gunshot wound expert. Dr. Vincent Di Maio testified for the defense:
that Martin’s gunshot wound was consistent with the gun’s muzzle being against his clothing, which would have been two to four inches away from his body when he was shot.
Closing arguments for both sides will begin on Thursday at 1 pm.
