Justice Department to Look For Racial Motive In Zimmerman Case
After days of rumors and protest from American citizens demanding action from the Department of Justice in regards to the not guilty verdict for George Zimmerman, the federal department has announced that it has now begun looking into the case to see if it can find any racial motivations.
In order for the Justice department to have the ability to take action, they would have to be able to find racial motivation behind Zimmerman’s actions. While many people believe that Zimmerman’s actions were racially motivated, a jury of his peers has already decided that he was innocent of all charges.
According to Former Miami federal prosecutor David S. Weinstein:
it will likely be months before a decision is made on whether to bring charges.
If Zimmerman is charged and convicted of a federal hate crime, he could get life in prison.
